When it's cheap fish day
Make Fish Pie

Quite a bit of fish in the cut price bit. Smoked haddock, wild salmon, cod etc. And Some budget prawns and random white fish. Cover with a bechamel/parsley sauce,  cover  that with mashed taters, and bake in the oven for 40 mins or so

The Weekend

Food for the weekend

That's some rye sourdough at the top, ideal with peppered smoked mackerel for breakfast.
Onion soup French style, then ham and cheese pie with mash and salad

Sausage Rolls

Sausage Rolls

Rough puff pastry and sausage meat

The Rob Lee Steakon roll

Rob said why not roll bacon and steak together like a Swiss roll, so I did.

A thin slice of steak, rolled with a rasher of streaky bacon.
The steakon roll, thanks Rob

Ice Cream

Raspberry or Coffee?

Simple ice creams. Whisk a small pot of double cream with a small tin of evaporated milk.
make the flavouring. The coffee was a double shot of espresso with a dessert spoon of honey stirred in and boiled down to a thick syrup. Wait until cold and stir in to the cream, and freeze. Raspberry was a couple of punnets of berries, again boiled to down to a syrup, with sugar and a little water . Sieve out the seeds if you like (I did) add  the juice of a fresh orange and freeze

Roast Beef

Local Butchers Rule

Get the proper stuff from your local butcher. Just under a kilo, cooked for an hour, rested for an hour. Could do a bit less if you're feeling pinker
